McKENDREE MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO BRESCIA IN OVERTIME, 73-71

  (OWENSBORO, Ky., December 17)—The McKendree College men's basketball team dropped a 73-71 decision to Brescia University on the road, dropping their season record to 7-9 overall.

     McKendree battled back after trailing 37-31 at halftime, using a game-high 24 points from Bryant Lyles (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) to do so. Lyles was nine-of-16 from the field. McKendree guard Mark Stovall (St. Louis, Mo./Jennings) was the only other Bearcat to reach double-figures in scoring with 14 points. Leading scorer Mike Strobbe (Ferguson, Mo./McCluer), who came in averaging 15.4 points per game, was held to just seven points on three-of-12 shooting.

     Brescia was led led by Donald Ray Johnson who had 18 points while Dane Russell added 17 points. Brescia shot  51-percent from the floor in the game and hit 10 three-point field goals in the game.

     Brescia outscored McKendree 8-6 in the extra period to win the game and improve to 7-4 on the season.

     McKendree will return to action again in the Tabor College Classic in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bearcats will face Sterling College on December 30 at 6 p.m. and host school Tabor College on December 31 at 7 p.m.
